Oman’s FSA-licensed Sharia-compliant trade finance platform and London’s FCA-regulated asset-backed credit specialist — both with established Sharia-compliant practices — begin a programme of strategic cooperation focused on credit structuring, institutional readiness, and the role of regulated trade finance in Oman’s import, export, re-export, and manufacturing economy.

Mamun, the Sultanate of Oman’s Financial Services Authority-licensed Sharia-compliant trade finance platform, has begun a programme of strategic cooperation with Channel, the London-headquartered, Financial Conduct Authority-regulated specialist in privately-originated asset-backed credit and Sharia-compliant trade finance. The cooperation, formalised between the two firms, focuses on credit structuring, institutional readiness, and Mamun’s positioning as regulated Sharia-compliant trade finance infrastructure for Oman’s role in global import, export, re-export, and manufacturing flows.

Channel is led by Dr Walter Gontarek, Chief Executive Officer, IC Chair and Chairman, and operates from London under FCA authorisation. The firm has a long-established track record in privately-originated asset-backed credit for institutional investors, including a dedicated Sharia-compliant trade finance practice.

Mamun is headquartered in Muscat and licensed by the Sultanate of Oman’s Financial Services Authority, with corridor nodes in Abu Dhabi (ADGM) and Hong Kong connecting Oman to international trade and capital flows. The company provides Sharia-compliant, asset-backed financing solutions to MSMEs engaged in import, export, re-export, and manufacturing activities, with a global mandate.

Saleh Al-Tamami, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mamun, said:

“Oman’s position as a global trading corridor — connecting the Gulf, the Indian Ocean rim, and beyond through its ports and regulatory framework — represents a structural opportunity that requires institutional-grade, Sharia-compliant credit infrastructure to realise its full potential. Mamun has built that infrastructure with Oman as its regulated home, supported by a connected presence across Abu Dhabi (ADGM) and Hong Kong. Working with Channel Capital, a counterparty with both institutional standing and a genuine Sharia-compliant trade finance practice, is a natural fit for the work ahead.”

Walter Gontarek, CEO and Chair at Channel, said:

“Oman is a market we have long recognised as underserved by institutional-grade, Sharia-compliant credit infrastructure. Mamun has built exactly the kind of regulated, asset-backed platform that Channel looks for in a strategic counterparty — disciplined, well-governed, and anchored in real economic activity. This cooperation opens a meaningful pipeline of trade finance opportunities that meet our standards for both credit quality and Sharia compliance.”

The cooperation will be governed by a joint Working Group with formal review checkpoints, with workstreams covering strategic advisory and credit structuring.
