Channel Holds 2nd Annual Private Credit Networking Event
100+ attendees representing over $4 trillion of assets joined us at The Law Society Hall in London
Channel held its 2nd Annual Private Credit Networking Event on September 18th at the prestigious Law Society Hall in London, UK.
We want to thank all the attendees and partners who joined us for the evening, from the banks, pension funds and advisors, insurance companies, SWFs, asset/fund managers, and wealth channels, representing over $4 trillion of assets.
We were also pleased to host partners from the technology, digital finance, embedded technology and legal/advisory sectors. Borrowers present included several of the most prominent UK, UAE and US fintechs backed by leading VC firms globally.
All in all, we had 135 attendees. We extend our sincere thanks to our speakers across key sector domains, including Ganesh Rajendra, Mike Manning, Nick Stainthorpe and Kristian Wilson:
- With over 25 years’ experience as a leader in the global asset-backed markets, Ganesh Rajendra provided an excellent overview of the asset-backed market and the inverse relationship between bank C&I lending and the growth of private credit. He also mapped out the return profiles of over ten key asset classes within this sector and their respective characteristics.
- Nick Stainthorpe presented on the key features of well-structured speciality finance transactions, including true sale and bankruptcy remoteness, originator skin-in-the-game, primary and back-up servicing and cash dominion. Nick has been our adviser for many years in speciality finance transactions in the UK, EU and Middle East.
- Mike Manning, former head of Digital at Amazon, walked us through the expected growth of stablecoins as an asset class from $300 billion today to $1.7 trillion by 2030, as the next financial “killer app”. Mike also explained the supportive impact of regulatory clarity, maturing infrastructure and abundant real-world applications fuelling this demand. Channel is hugely focused on the space and the applications for fundraising and deployment for cross-border asset-backed lending.
- Kristian Wilson explained why asset-backed private credit can be an inefficient sector with its data challenges, but then went on to show how we are deploying AI to hyper-scale our business. Kris demonstrated the role of the Channel tech stack, “Magic”, which is data-led and at the heart of our business strategy. He also shared several key lessons we learnt when implementing AI.
